Week 19

How big is baby? The size of a mango!

Baby Development FYI:
At about 6.0 inches long and weighing in at about 8.5 ounces, she’s getting there! Developing a protective coating over her skin, called vernix caseosa. It’s greasy and white and you may see some of it at her birth. Working on her five senses. Nerve cells for her sense of taste, hearing, sight and smell are developing in her brain.

My body has been invaded, how’s that going? Kicking, fluttering, and rolling.  It is awesome, and I’m really enjoying it.  Just wish Nate could feel it more because it is so cool!  I feel the most movement during the day which is great because I get to sleep at night (don’t want to jinx this one), but it makes it super hard to concentrate at work.  It’s interesting how your interests and priorities change even before you have the baby.

I normally wash my hair every other day.  Now, I can go 3 and even 4 days without washing it!  It’s crazy.  This baby has sucked all the oil out of my head.  No complaints there since we get to save a buck on my shampoo and conditioner 🙂

Still having energy spurts and then crashing.  It’s amazing how fast your energy drains out of you and how long it takes to recover.

What’s been on my mind?
For real, really, realizing I need to enjoy every day of pregnancy.  You only get to feel the baby inside of you for a few months, and then never again.  I used to get so annoyed with everyone saying “Enjoy it. Enjoy every second!” Because I’ve seen it so many times and thought it was so unoriginal and common sense to enjoy it.  But now I get it, and they were right 🙂  Well, except telling me to enjoy 1st trimester, that’s just crazy talk.  I don’t miss 1st trimester one bit!

I’ve been dreaming about giving birth this week.  Not nervous about it (yet), but curious about what it is going to be like for me.  Seems like every night I’ve dreamed about a different scenario.

Crazy Cravings:
EVERYTHING. I’m finally craving fruits and veggies.  Strawberries and cream oatmeal in the mornings is delicious.  Pistachios are little bites of heaven. Orange juice. Asparagus covered in lemon juice.  Still loving my milkshakes, but not as often as I’d like.

Highlights:
Feeling lots of movement and getting used to them has been a lot of fun.  Just trying to enjoy them while they are still cute little kicks 🙂

Wearing maternity pants and shirts.  I was kind of scared of wearing maternity clothes because in my head I thought, once I give in to the maternity wear, there goes my body!  But now that I’ve been wearing them and realized how much more comfortable I am, that fear is gone.  I’ve had quite a few compliments on my outfits too, and when I tell them it’s a maternity shirt, they can’t believe it!  So that definitely helped boost my confidence about wearing maternity shirts.
