Sewing Table / Craft Desk: Part 2

This weekend Nate and I finished building my sewing table / craft desk.  We already had one of the shelves so we can to buy and assemble the second.  I got a great deal on the shelf at Target…it was already on sale and the corner of the box was damaged so I got an additional 30% off.  It never hurts to ask!  Then, Nate screwed the wood to the tops of the shelves, I added the baskets, and wah la!  Done.  Now I just need to organize and add the sewing / craft supplies.  And find a cheap wooden stool.

  1. love this! Wish I had a craft table. Right now I've taken over my dining room table and it is becoming harder to put everything away when we want to use it!!

  2. That was my fear, that I would get everything set up somewhere around the house and NEVER put it away. Because I already had the 1 shelf, it only cost me $50 to make the rest of the desk. Not bad at all!

  3. I'll have to check her blog out. I used to always stray away from poorly packaged items…but the discount was worth it and there wasn't anything wrong with the contents!

  5. I've seen plans for building a desk like that from scratch. Your solution is much easier, and looks just as good! Great job. What's on top? Is it painted wood?I'll be featuring this idea on One Creative Weekend at OneCreativeMommy.com tomorrow. Please stop by and grab a featured button if you’d like. I can’t wait to see what you link up this week!

  6. The top is just painted wood. I even got the cabinet grade wood so I didn't have to sand it. Went right to painting. Also, we got a whole sheet and had to cut it down to size. The extra pieces we made into shelves that are now on the wall above it. Will have to post that picture!
